A Thoughtful Landscape Design for a Heritage Home

Located in Cottesloe, Perth, this project involved designing an outdoor space that respected the home’s historic charm while elevating it with a modern outdoor living experience. As experienced residential landscape architects in Perth, we approached this site with a sensitivity to its heritage character, blending traditional architectural cues with contemporary outdoor elements.

The front garden was reimagined to act as a welcoming extension of the home, using a structured yet soft landscape language. We introduced a layered planting palette that merges low-water coastal succulents with evergreen textures, creating year-round interest that thrives in Perth’s climate. The use of neutral tones in the hardscape highlights the clean white façade and heritage detailing of the home, grounding the garden in context.

Modern Pool Design with Architectural Impact

At the heart of the rear garden is a custom-designed raised swimming pool, finished in ocean-inspired deep blue tiles. This design not only adds visual depth but offers functional elevation on a compact site. The pool is framed by bespoke curved steel fencing, softened by integrated planting a unique safety feature that also acts as a sculptural landscape element.

The outdoor space is further enhanced with a generous expanse of turf for children to play, custom paving layouts for seamless movement, and a thoughtfully integrated outdoor fireplace for entertaining during Perth’s cooler evenings.
